 CAREX TRIFFID (Cyperaceae) HP
An unknown weirdo from New Zealand. One seedling from a batch of wild collected seed of Carex trifida was totally different. Whether a hybrid or an unknown species we do not know. But it is an most unusual plant. Whilst only being about only about 2 feet tall, it has a mass of six foot long whips with terminal seed heads radiating in all directions. An amazing sight.
Sowing Instructions
Cover seed thinly with compost or grit in gentle heat or a warm light spot outside.
row on singly or in clumps in 3 inch pots.
Plant out in a well-drained open position.
