SISYRINCHIUM PALMIFOLIUM (Iridaceae) HP 15-18 in
An absolutely superb introduction. Most appropriately named the "Bird-Of-Paradise" sisyrinchium, it can carry up to one hundred large golden stars on each magnificent head, which is composed of repeatedly branching, broad stems. These give an endless display of large, yellow saucer-shaped flowers which are held proudly on a stiff, springy stem. The display rarely begins before mid-morning and improves as the day progresses.
Sowing advice:COVER WITH COMPOST OR GRIT 5mm. DEEP. SOW ANYTIME AND KEEP MOIST IN A COOL, LIGHT SPOT OUTSIDE. MAY BE SLOW TO GERMINATE. GROW ON INDIVIDUAL SEEDLINGS IN 3" POTS. PLANT OUT IN A WELL-DRAINED SHELTERED POSITION.
